While on a shopping diet, I have grown exceedingly bored with every single article of clothing in my closet. I know it is my consumerism rearing its ugly head telling me that unless I add a new piece every week my wardrobe will be bland like 97% lean ground beef. To combat this way of thinking I have scoured my Style Pinterest Board looking for outfits I have pinned for inspiration. I pinned this outfit several weeks ago after I purchased my black and white stripe prom skirt from Dorothy Perkins.
Coral and its neon co-partners are in for the summer months, but I haven't bought any vibrant tops in quite a while. I have a burgundy top of a similar fabric and cut, as well as a navy and black one, both of which are just too heavy for summer in the south. Then I remembered. Sometime in December I purchased a corally pink knit top from Old Navy. It doesn't wash and dry well and shrinks almost every time I launder it, so I stuffed it in the bottom of my hamper to rot there until I could figure out what to do with it. It is not small by any means, but when I bought it, it was an over-sized top I could pair with leggings. Now, it is a normal-sized top. Blah. I dug it out and spent 45 minutes ironing out each pathetic wrinkle.
This is the result and I am very pleased. While both the skirt and top wrinkle very easily, I love the breezy yet structured look of the outfit and the color is great for July. I also let my hair dry naturally and pinned it to the side for an over-the-shoulder cascade of waves.
