Body Con-scious

Let me start by saying, I have never enjoyed fitted clothing. When skinny jeans came on the scene, I wanted to run screaming into the night. I don't like all of my lumps and bumps on display and when I wear fitted clothing, it feels like that dream where you have gone to school in your underthings and everyone is pointing and laughing.

Several months ago when I was introduced to Dorothy Perkins, I came across the most beautiful dress imaginable. Beautiful geometric pattern, gorgeous pleather detailing, all of my favorite colors. Perfect, yes? No. It was a bodycon. I would love to say being a curvy girl that I see myself as Jessica Rabbit with her extreme hourglass figure, but alas, I am not. On a crazy whim, I decided to take a leap of faith while DP was having a great sale, and purchased it. I waited patiently for a week or so, and when it arrived, I practically tripped over myself to try it on. It fits beautifully, but I'm still a little self-conscious in it with all of its body-hugging qualities. I have been psyching myself up to wear it to a party this weekend, so to give myself that extra boost of confidence, I wanted to try it out at the office.

Many of the curvy ladies I follow, whether they be bloggers or models, are fervently embracing the bodycon. I am not quite there yet, but I can say I am over the moon after having finally worn this is public!

If you are interested in seeing any other blogger ladies in their beautiful bodycons, Jojo at iCurvy sports the exact same dress here. Gabi from Gabifresh posted a recent picture of herself in a great bodycon from ASOS here.

What do you think? Have you tried the bodycon before?
