Do you recognize this dress? Of course you do! I wore it here in purple. I am disappointed the colors were so dull in the photos, because in person the teal dress and red necklace just POP.
I am tremendously pleased with how this outfit turned out. I haven't mentioned before, but this month I decided to go on a shopping diet. It was inspired by a "new professional" blogger I follow who decided to embark on a year-long restriction from frivolous spending (read: clothes). A year is just too long to go without buying any beautiful dresses, but I thought a month would be a nice challenge. My intent was to bring awareness to my consumerism, but a newly discovered side-effect is the opportunity to create new outfits from items I don't usually pair. Even better, I am forced to reevaluate my feelings toward certain items I have dismissed as useless to my wardrobe.
The necklace is a perfect example. While in Georgia for the holiday, I found it in my jewelry armoire. I like to pretend it was gifted, but I am almost positive I snatched it from my best friend several years ago. I had forgotten all about it because I don't often find a use for red accents, but was really inspired to move away from the traditional brown accents I like. The bag is a similar story, a long forgotten item I loved in High School but had little use for in adulthood.

What do you think? Would you be able to go a take on a month-long shopping diet?
